This is a portait painting I did in 2018, and is 1 of 2 paintings I created as a tribute to the late artist, Siinamota. I used watercolor and an image transfer method to overlay a map of the Ishikawa prefecture of Japan (his birthplace) in the background. Siinamota's work resonates very closely and is very personal to me, so I wanted to create a few artworks as tributes to him.
Siinamota was a Japanese musician mostly known for his work involving the use of Vocaloids, like Hatsune Miku and Kagamine Rin. Through his music, he expressed his struggles with confronting adulthood and finding reasons to keep living. Unfortunately, he passed away in July 2015, at the young age of 20.
I included this as part of my Breadth work for AP Studio Art in 2018. (AP Portfolio Score: 5)
